Mary Purpari
I'm originally from SoCal, but at 22 I moved to Salt Lake City, Utah. From there I served a mission for the LDS Church in North Eastern Italy. After 1-1/2 years I married an Italian living in Bologna. After the birth of my daughter in 1984, we moved to Mistretta, in Sicily, where I lived until 2008, when I moved back to America. I am presently living in Brooklyn, New York, close to my publishers--Vantage Press-- where I can keep an eye on the progress of my book "Old McDonald Had a Funny Farm", written under my maiden name, Mary McDowell. I enjoy writing, reading ('rithmatic, too, for that matter), music (I played the trumpet and sing), beadwork, quilting and crocheting. I also translate Italian/English and Spanish/English.
I have also started a new site where my articles will be available in Italian. As of now (Jan. 25, 2011) two articles have been posted - Mistretta, One of Italy's Hidden Treasures and Treat Your Feet to a Doctor Fish Pedicure - but I'm getting there.
